While we’re experienced in caring for pets with special needs, Maddie’s House is not a medical facility. We’re happy to follow your veterinarian’s instructions for things like oral medications, topical treatments, and even subcutaneous injections if they’re part of your pet’s regular at-home care. However, we’re not equipped for intensive medical supervision or emergency care. Pets needing ongoing monitoring, IV fluids, or treatment for active medical conditions are best cared for in a licensed veterinary hospital.
Yes, we can administer oral, subcutaneous injectable, trans-mucosal, trans-dermal, or topical medications as directed by you & your veterinarian. We do not perform any tasks that require formal veterinary training or veterinary facilities to accomplish. Essentially, we are able to provide any care that you would typically provide in your home.
Please bring your pet’s food, any medications or supplements, and a few comfort items from home—like a favorite blanket or toy—to help them feel settled. Our intake forms cover most of the details we need, but if your pet has any special needs not addressed in the paperwork, feel free to include them in the “Other” section or share them with us at check-in. We want to make their stay as smooth and comfortable as possible!
Your pet’s comfort and safety are our top priorities. If your pet requires veterinary care while staying at Maddie’s House, we will take appropriate action to ensure they receive the care they need.
Minor Concerns: If your pet develops a non-emergency issue, we will contact you (or your designated emergency contact) to discuss the situation and determine the best course of action.
Urgent Needs & Emergencies: In the event of a serious medical emergency, we will transport your pet to a trusted veterinary hospital for immediate care. If we are unable to reach you, we will authorize treatment based on the level of care you’ve pre-approved. Depending on the nature of the emergency, we may not be able to travel to your preferred facility, and reserve the right to seek care based on proximity, wait times, road conditions etc., if deemed appropriate by our team.
Maddie’s House specializes in individualized care for pets that may not do well in a standard boarding facility for a variety of reasons.
We focus on pets who need extra attention, such as seniors, those recovering from surgery, or pets requiring medication.
We are strictly low-capacity, and indoor-only; your pet will be under close observation, and dogs will never be left unattended outside (cats are not given any outdoor access).
